Illumination Entertainment is the masterminding force behind such animated hits as “Despicable Me, “Despicable Me 2”, “Minions, and Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax”. The Illumination team is at once again to bring us their newest animation sensation “Sing”.
“Sing” will be the sixth fully animated film created by the Illumination studio.
It will also be the first collaboration between Garth Jennings and Chris Meledandri. Jennings is the writer and director of the film while Meledandri is the CEO and founder of Illumination Entertainment. The film is also being produced by Meledandri and Janet Healy which the two have produced all of the films that Illumination has created since the studio first began.
Celebrities who have lent their voices to this new animated adventure are Matthew McConaughey, Resse Witherspoon, Seth McFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, and singer/songwriter Tori Kelly.
The new animated film takes place in a world much like ours but is only inhabited by animals. The movie follows the life of a dapper koala named Buster Moon. Buster is the owner of a theater that was the hottest spot in town but has now had some hard times. In efforts to save his theater Buster comes up with the greatest singing competition anyone has ever seen. During the competition five contestants emerge as the front runners, a mouse who’s voice is a smooth as his cons; a shy teenage elephant who can’t shake her stage fright; a piggy mother who’s twenty-five piglets get the best of her; a gangster gorilla trying to leave the family business behind; and a porcupine with a punk rock edge trying to ditch her boyfriend to go solo.
The new animated project will feature over sixty-five hit songs and is expected to arrive in theaters on December 21, 2016. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below.
