When you think of Milwaukee, usually the words “hip-hop” and “rap” would not be in the same sentence. Recently, Milwaukee has been put on the map due to some major talent coming out of that city… One of which, is Jon Briggz, CEO of “We R The Lost”.
Jon Briggz is the founder/mastermind behind the “We R The Lost” group and label. The group came together sort of as a rebirth of a former group. Briggz along with his brothers and a close friend were part of a group they called, “The Lost”. The group got its name from people labeling them as troubled youth with no drive or ambition. The group released two mixtapes and a slew of freestyles during a 2 year period, but eventually decided to go their separate ways.
After being a part for a while, the group reformed because they realized that they had created a movement. They began to see how their music had touched others who had also been labeled “lost”. Hence, the birth of the current group called, “We R The Lost”.
The group’s sound has been described as inspirational hip-hop, because they mix party anthems with their political views. The groups CD is entitled, “Still Lost”, and was released in April of this year. The CD can be found on ITunes here, but in the meantime you can check out a single from the CD called, “ The Times” featuring Bill Ro$e. As usual, let me know what you think.
