Oh No They Didn’t! Pepsi Removes Controversial Ad Featuring Kendall Jenner

Pepsi is a brand that has been around for years! It’s a brand that people have grown to trust and love. Normally, with age comes wisdom but sometimes you still have moments where you just don’t quite get it. Unfortunately, Pepsi had one of those unfavorable moments recently.

Earlier Pepsi posted their new ad featuring Kendall Jenner. The ad featured Kendall in a blonde wig at a photo shoot. During the photo shoot, Kendall witnesses a multicultural  protest going by and she decides to ditch the shoot and join the protest. Kendall snatches off her blonde wig and makes her way to the front of the protest line.

Once at the front of the crowd, Kendall uses her superhero powers and stops the entire protest by giving a police officer a can of Pepsi. Then everyone claps and cheers because a Kardashian and Pepsi have now rid the world of  its injustices.

Once the commercial hit the airwaves, people immediately took their social media to express their disgust. Most people felt that the commercial made a mockery of the “Black Lives Matter” movement. The commercial even caught the attention of Martin Luther King’s daughter, Bernice.

She expressed her thoughts of the commercial via her Twitter account by stating, “If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi.”

Pepsi Explains

Pepsi ended up pulling the commercial and released the following statement:

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issues. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
