Teyana Taylor Lands Role On VH1’s ‘The Breaks’

I think it’s safe to say that Teyana Taylor is having the best week ever! Ms. Taylor’s phenomenal week started off this past Sunday at the VMAs with the premiere of Kayne West’s video “Fade”. Teyana starred in the video and gave everyone life; she also made girls around the world hit the gym on Monday morning. Now, there is news of Teyana landing two television gigs. Looks like Ms. Taylor has unleashed her black girl magic and will soon be taking over VH1.

VH1 recently announced that Teyana will be joining the cast of two VH1 shows. Teyana has landed a reoccurring role on VH1’s “The Breaks” and will also appear on the network’s newest show “Hip Hop Squares”. “The Breaks” will be a hip hop drama series based off the made for television film of the same name which aired on VH1 back in January.  The show will be set in the 1990s and will focus on hip hop’s influence in New York during that era. The show’s cast also includes Mack Wilds, Afton Willamson, and Antoine Harris. Teyana will also appear on “Hip Hop Squares” which is executive produced by rapper/actor, Ice Cube. The show is a remake of the popular “Hollywood Squares” where celebrity contestants will test their knowledge of pop culture. “The Breaks” and “Hip Hop Squares” are scheduled to air this fall.

Wait, there’s more. Teyana also announced this week that she is working on some new tunes. Teyana will be hitting the studio to work on a new album. This will be a second album for the G.O.O.D Music songbird. Teyana’s first album, “VII”, debuted in 2014. Teyana also plans on dropping a remix to her song, “Champions”, which featured Kanye West, Big Sean, Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz. Teyana also hinted at possibly making a workout DVD to help women get their sexy back.

Teyana recently had an interview with Vogue, and here is what she had to say about her new burst of exposure.

“It’s emotional because I’ve been in the industry for so long and I’ve never understood why certain things weren’t happening. And now I feel like my story, everything that I’ve been through, makes this moment so much more special. Though it took so long for this to happen, I don’t feel like it could’ve happened at a better time.”

So, what are your thoughts? Will you be watching for Teyana this fall? Let me know in the comments.
